Green Computing

Information Technology Berbasis Lingkungan, adalah isu yang berkembang saat ini. Seperti yang kita ketahui bersama Lingkungan bersifat sustainable yang berarti lingkungan merupakan kunci keberlanjutan hidup dan merupakan pilar dalam masyarakat. Salah satu cara untuk mendukung kelestarian Lingkungan adalah dengan Green Industry. Green Industry ini terdiri dari beberapa nilai, yaitu : Reduction, Recycle dan Clean Production. Dari sisi Information Technology, Green Computing adalah salah satu perwujudan dari Green Industry. Didalam Green Computing terdapat Social Responsibility, Environment Impact dan Economic Viable. Economic viable berarti segala sesuatu dipikirkan secara ekonomi. Terdapat 2 sudut pandang, jangka pendek dan jangka panjang. Jangka pendek berhubungan dengan cost dan jangka panjang berhubungan dengan investasi.

Salah satu contoh Green Computing adalah ELearning. Di dalam ELearning terdapat share materi yang dapat diwujudkan dengan membuat kelompok belajar. Selain itu ELearning juga dapat membuat laporan. Hal ini berarti ELearning dapat mengurangi kertas yang biasanya digunakan.

Green Computing terdiri dari IT Culture dan Menggunakan Komputer lebih lama. IT Culture berasal dari Behaviour kemudian akan menjadi Habit dan pada akhirnya menjadi Culture. Salah satu contoh dari IT Culture adalah :

1. Komputer harus mati saat tidak digunakan
2. untuk mencetak konsep menggunakan draft quality print
3. surat menyurat dalam elektronik.

Menggunakan Komputer lebih lama, dapat dilakukan dengan mengatur :

1. Pemakaian CPU
2. Pemakaian Memori
3. Berapa lama computer dinyalakan
4. Penggunaan Aplikasi

Pelaksanaan Green Computing pada software dan hardware dalam computer :

Aplikasi atau Software :

1. Menambah fitur-fitur dari portal yang besar, tidak membuat aplikasi yang mirip berulang-berulang.
2. Menggunakan tools dan content yang jelas manfaatnya. Tidak sembarangan menginstal program karena akan membuat processor dan memory bekerja lebih berat.
3. Tidak dapat menginstal sembarangan. Yaitu dengan membatasi hanya admin yang dapat menginstal aplikasi.
4. Matikan service yang tidak perlu  – run – services.msc

1. Matikan Error Reporting services untuk menghilangkan layanan kirim error ke Microsoft.

1. ctrl-alt-del untk melihat proses CPU

1. ms-config untuk mengatur computer ketika boot, startup dan services. Startup untuk loading awal dan services untuk kerja processor.

1. Power option : hibernate – stand by – sleep. Hibernate dapat menghemat 98%, dengan hibernate isi memori terakhir disimpan di hardisk sehingga ketika computer dinyalakan kembali dapat menampilkan session terakhir computer.

1. Bluetooth atau wifi harus dalam kedaan mati jika tidak digunakan karena selalu mencari alat lain
2. Kartu memory card dan usb harus dilepas terlebih dahulu sebelum computer dinyalakan karena data yang ada didalam memory card dan usb masih mencari data lagi.

Hardware

1. selalu mengunakan produk-produk yang berlogo energy star. Energi star adalah teknologi yang digunakan untuk monitor dan laptop, merupakan program promosi dan penghargaan efisensi teknologi monitor oleh US environment Protection Agency. Dengan memakai produk ini dapat menghemat 65%.

2. update memory (RAM), Registry Kotor
3. Virtualisasi : beli 1 hardware kemudian diakses bersama-sama, akses ke server yaitu dengan aplikasi diinstal di server dan dipakai bersama-sama di client.
4. Monitor semakin besar maka energi yang dibutuhkan semakin besar
5. matikan monitor server
6. inkjet lebih hemat 80-90% dibandingkan laser
7. Infus lebih hemat.

Aplikasi yang ada di bppi yang mendukung Green Computing adalah ELetter, EMeeting, ENotulensi.

1. ELetter : bagian TU mengisi data, pengguna dapat melihat surat masuk dan surat keluar, Admin dapat menambah user dan assign role.
2. EMeeting : ruang rapat dapat di booking à serahkan surat à verified à gunakan. Untuk Pengisian Agenda admin berhak menolak kalau agenda rapat tidak jelas
3. ENotulensi : menulis hasil rapat secara online.

Langkah – langkah antar aplikasi :

1. Surat masuk dapat dilihat pada ELetter
2. Tentukan rapat mulai dari waktu, ruangan dan agenda pada EMeeting
3. Tulis hasil notulensi pada ENotulensi

1. Hemat kertas

This article talks about template. Some people still don’t know how to create template, so I am going to explain how to do it.

For this template creation tutorial, I use free template that I download from TemplateWise.com you can download other free template here.

These instructions are for PowerPoint 2003 and should have no problem in PowerPoint 97 and 2000 or 2002 as well.

 1. Make new file or blank presentation and choose View | Master | Slide Master.

 2. Choose Insert New Slide Master

3. You have your own master, you can see now you have two slide previews in left pane. Both previews are linked through a connector. The top preview represents the slide master and the bottom preview represents the title master.

4. Any elements you place within these masters show up on all of the slides based on them. The title layout slides are based on a title master. All of the other slide layouts are influenced by the slide master. (PowerPoint has more than 26 slide layouts, which you find in the Slide Layout task pane.) 

5. Click the Slide Master preview to view your Slide Master in edit mode. First, you need to add a background to the entire slide. Choose Format|Background. In the Background dialog box, click the downward pointing arrow and click Fill Effects.

6. In the Fill Effects dialog box, click the Picture tab and then click the ‘Select Picture’ button. Navigate to the location on your hard disk where you stored the downloaded backgrounds. Now click OK and then Apply.

7. Click the Title Master preview in the left pane to view your Title Master in edit mode. Follow the same steps (number 3 and 4) as you used to add a background to the Slide Master

8. Now you have a template that contains both Title and Slide Masters, so it’s a good time to save it. To save your template, choose File|Save As. From the Save as type drop-down box, click Design Template (*.pot).

9. Choose Format|Slide Design to activate the Slide Design task pane. On the top of the task pane, click the Color Schemes option.

10. You can now apply an existing color scheme or choose to edit/create a new color scheme to your template. To edit/create a color scheme, click the Edit Color Schemes option at the bottom of the task pane.

11. In the Edit Color Scheme dialog box, you can change the colors of individual elements. Remember that your text and line colors should contrast with your background color and backgrounds you inserted. Click the Apply button. Choose File|Save (or press Ctrl+S) to resave your template.

12. Now, you can modify the text in your template. You can change font sizes and styles although it is best not to change the individual size proportions. Instead, select the entire text in a slide and click the Increase Font Size and Decrease Font Size buttons on the Formatting toolbar.

13. Now, deselect all of the text and choose the same font you selected for the text placeholders. By selecting a font with no placeholders selected, all new textboxes will use the same font style by default. Now resave your template by pressing Ctrl+S.

14. Resave your template. Your finished template is now ready to be used for new and existing presentations.

Once you’ve created your template masterpiece, you probably want to use it. To apply a template to an existing presentation, follow these steps:

1. Open an existing presentation and choose Format | Slide Design to activate the Slide Design task pane. This Task Pane displays thumbnails of existing templates.
2. If the template you need is not displayed, click the Browse… button on the bottom of the pane and navigate using the familiar ‘Apply Design Template’ dialog box and choose your PowerPointed template (*.pot) file.

And with that, PowerPoint applies the template you selected to your presentation.
